How Businesses Are Encouraging A Return To The Office
With lockdown restrictions gradually being eased around the country, people are slowly starting to think about returning to their desks and offices… and it seems that businesses are doing all they can to encourage this return to work, offering all sorts of incentives to staff members to get back to the world of work.
According to the Guardian, these incentives include extra childcare, free food and executive parking spaces, so this could be an idea if you and your business are keen for more staff members to consider going back to the office.
Bank JP Morgan, for example, set up an internal smartphone app so that senior bankers away on holiday could donate parking spots to more junior staff members so they can get to work without having to travel on public transport.
And at Goldman Sachs’ London office, workers can now claim an additional ten days of free childcare on top of the 20 they were previously entitled to, as well as enjoying free takeaway breakfast and lunch, which they previously had to pay for.
Employment law expert at DMH Stallard Rustom Tata observed, however: “If an employer is offering a policy such as free meals, they may have to consider whether they offer an equivalent benefit to someone who isn’t coming into the office for reasons to do with a disability.”
Research from US bank Morgan Stanley recently revealed that workers in the UK are returning to the office at a slower rate than elsewhere in Europe, with just 34 per cent going back in comparison to 68 per cent of their European counterparts.
